Dear Parents and Carers,

It's been a long time since my last missive, a time filled with lots of exciting events to keep our small and tall folks entertained.

First things first though, I’ll start by wishing you all Happy New Year.  I hope all your households were filled with joy and love throughout the festive season.

Next, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank some fantastic folk for their wonderful work in ensuring several successful events occurred last term.

Back in November, we had a quiz night, Dulcie and Beth prepped for and delivered a fabulous evening, ably supported by their volunteer bar staff. We were all kept entertained by our quizmaster extraordinaire. Carrie coordinated our first auction of promises with aplomb; I'm still getting over my disappointment at being outbid! The quiz/auction combination was hugely successful, raising over £1400 for our school. However, perhaps more important than the funds raised, was the wonderful atmosphere on the night, a fabulous example of our school community coming together.

Another such example of our School Community at work was the Christmas Craft Activity morning. Our chief elf Charlotte and her team of willing helpers worked tirelessly and at times in challenging conditions ( so sorry about being in a cold draft face painters), all with a single aim in mind, to give the children of the village a fun morning. As an added bonus we also raised a small sum for the school.

I must also mention the PTA members who helped serve Christmas lunch and to Zoe who coordinated this.

Thank you to all the members of our school community who gave so many hours of their time to ensure that these events happened and were successful. Thank you also to those who take on jobs for which no public thanks can be given (you know who you are).

Finally, the great news is, we have more events planned. On Saturday 7th February, we have our Boden Party, hopefully you have all pinned the leaflet that came out this week on your fridge/kitchen door/noticeboard.  In case you’ve missed the notice, the event runs between 10 and 2 at the school. Also, on the 7th March, we have our Wine Tasting Evening. I speak from personal experience that this is not a night to be missed, though a pint of water before bed is recommended. Watch out for a communication nearer the time about how to purchase tickets.

Please keep an eye on the PTA noticeboard for upcoming events, committee meeting dates and other updates. Our next meeting is on 4th February at 7.30pm at the Dundas Arms, it would be great to see some new faces (in addition to the "old" ones).

Best Wishes
Sam Palmer
