Marvellous May Day

1 May 2017

The dancing by our Kintbury St Mary's children was so fantastic at the village May Day celebrations that we held off the forecast showers until later in the afternoon.  There was time for all to enjoy the Morris Dancing of the Garston Gallopers, marvel at our Green Man and celebrate the crowing of the May Queen Beth, the May King Tommy and the appointment of their lovely attendants for the day, Ella and Tommy.

As always, the May King and Queen led a procession of villagers to the Coronation Hall where all were treated to a fine display of traditional Maypole dancing which showcased all the hard work and practice of our Maypole club.  There was a great range of stalls and attractions to keep everyone entertained and the BBQ produced very tasty burgers and sausages.

The whole event was flawlessly organised by Kintbury St Mary's School PTA with thanks due to all involved and especially those volunteering their time on the day.  Thanks also to Penny Brookman for all her work in preparing the children for the day.
